The transportation system in Japan is extremely efficient. The closest major city to Niseko is Sapporo and the main airport is New Chitose International Airport. Chitose Airport offers daily flights to and from all major Asian hubs including mainland China, Hong Kong, Russia, Korea and Taiwan as well as excellent transfer options to Niseko by train, bus or private transfer.

Domestic flights from Tokyo to the New Chitose Airport (Sapporo) can be purchased with ease and at a reasonable price – with over 40 flights per day.

Tokyo (Haneda / Narita) to Sapporo New Chitose Airport – Flight: 1.5 hours
Niseko to Sapporo New Chitose Airport – Bus/Train: 2.5 hours
Hirafu Village to Kutchan Town – Taxi: 15 minutes

Time zones are almost the same as Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia resulting in no jet lag normally associated with long haul flights to Europe and North America.

In Australia the average drive from Sydney to the snowfields is 6 hours. Direct flights can have you at the foot of Niseko’s ski hills in less than 12 hours. Direct flights from Hong Kong to Sapporo take approx 4.25 hours so you can be hitting the slopes within 7 hours.
