Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido prefecture and the gateway to the Niseko district. With a population of 1.8 million people Sapporo is the fourth largest city and is often featured as one of Japan’s most desirable cities to live. Sapporo is well known for its many parks, delicious food, enormous range of shopping including luxury high-end stores, and some of the most exciting nightlife outside of Tokyo.
Every February Sapporo hosts the Sapporo Snow & Ice Festival where nearly two million people flock to experience the amazing ice sculptures on show. Sapporo also plays host to the world class Toyota Big Air Competition in January. Watch world champion snowboarders get ‘Big Air’ while fans go crazy. Will your favorite snowboarder win the US$100,000 in prize money?
