Hokkaido produces about half of the country’s milk. 60% of the produce is used for delicious drinking while the rest is processed into other dairy products – butter, cheese, yoghurt and ice cream. Dairy products from Hokkaido enjoy a very strong brand value across Japan. Many butter and milk packages prominently advertise their ties to the northern prefecture.
The region offers many renowned ice cream shops, sweet shops and cheese factories where the products are produced on site.
For fabulous dairy products including homemade ice cream and cream puffs visit the Milk Kobo Factory Shop in Niseko Village. Then its time to drop by Niseko Fromage and bring back some gouda or camembert and of course sample the camembert flavoured ice cream!
