The international spotlight continues to shine on The Vale Niseko, who successfully defended their title as World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel at the 2015 World Ski Awards. It is a cap on yet another successful year for Hirafu’s most desirable address, which has also enjoyed a win in the IAIR Awards for Leadership in Property Development and in the Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards, where developers and operators NISADE were named Japan’s Luxury Property Company of the Year.
The World Ski Awards is the only global initiative that rewards outstanding performance in ski hospitality services, and it is quickly becoming recognised as the industry standard to aspire to. The high profile contest is sponsored by big names such as Mercedes Benz and A-Rosa Resorts and Hideaways, who were the gracious hosts for this year’s event for the third time.
NISADE Chairman Jonathan Martin was in attendance with daughter Neve to accept the award at the World Ski Awards Gala Ceremony in Kitzbühel, Austria. Once again, Mr. Martin and the NISADE team were shocked and delighted by their World’s Best win in the high-profile awards.
‘This is a competition that encompasses the best skiing destinations in the world,’ comments Mr. Martin, ‘We were surprised and humbled to win last year – but two years in a row is overwhelming.’
Niseko made a clean sweep of the regional awards, with Hilton Niseko Village and Niseko United Resort winning in their respective categories of Japan’s Best Ski Hotel and Japan’s Best Ski Resort for the third time. HT’s Sekka Kan defended its title of Japan’s Best Ski Chalet and The Vale Niseko received the title of Japan’s Best as well as World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel.
‘What’s really humbling about these awards is that they are voted on by the public, as well as by industry professionals,’ said Mr. Martin, ‘You can compare hotels and services all day long, but in the end it is about where people want to stay.’
The town of Niseko is in celebration mode, and even the snow gods have cheerfully started dumping on the village and the ski hill. The celebration in the NISADE office was jubilant, but the small team soon returned to work in preparation for the season ahead. The village will be swarming with guests in the very near future, and they are sure to want to take a peek at The World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel!
