Kotaro Kurosawa, Neve Martin and Julie Martin were in Austria for the three-day ceremony and were honoured when presented with the award at the A-ROSA Hotel nestled amidst the alps.
It was an outstanding clean sweep for the Niseko region, with our friends at Hokkaido Backcountry Club taking out the title World’s Best Heli-Ski Operator and Niseko United representing Japan as 2016 Best Ski Resort. The Hilton Niseko was once again named Japan’s Best Ski Hotel, HT’s Sekka Kan defended its title of Japan’s Best Ski Chalet and The Vale Niseko received the title of Japan’s Best as well as World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel.

The World Ski Awards is herald as the ‘Oscars of the Travel Industry’ as winners are considered the most outstanding in their field, as voted by tourism professionals. The picturesque town of Kitzbühel is the birthplace of skiing, and was the perfect setting for the two day World Ski Awards extravaganza amidst the picturesque Austrian alps.
The World Ski Awards is the only global initiative that rewards outstanding performance in ski hospitality services, and it is quickly becoming recognised as the industry standard to aspire to. These awards are held with the highest honour by NISADE, as they directly mirror the support we receive, not only from the Niseko community but from the loyal guests we have return year after year. Our 5-star service and undeniable passion for what we do shines through our buildings and the hard working individuals who embody it. Our individuality is a hallmark in Niseko, and one we hold with inordinate pleasure and great pride and we look forward to the exposure these prestigious awards will offer the Niseko region.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and THANK YOU to all of our supporters and everyone who voted for Niseko.
We hope to see you this winter for a visit in the Worlds Best Ski Boutique Hotel.
